AN UNUSUAL AND RARE COURSE INDICATOR BY J.R. STEBBING, SOUTHAMPTON, CIRCA 1862
constructed in lacquered-brass, signed and inscribed Invented by Comr. Hay, R.N. & J.R. F.R.A.S. Southampton No.630 together with diamond registration mark for 1862 and Stebbing monogram, and comprising a 12in. rule with cutaway section, twin scaled circumferentor, three indicators with wire sights and a swivelling sight with sliding shade, contained within original fitted case -- 13in. (33cm.) diameter

Condition

Some wear to lacquer, mechanically fine, box missing a lid restraint, two circular unfilled compartments, securing hooks missing to lid.
