Description
paper doily admission ticket with botanical fossil remains motif and text on recto, and an oval map on verso, from Barbican to Great Dover Road, and from Lower Thames Street to Fleet Street, the New Coal Exchange building highlighted in red, lithographic transfer map, 155 x 110m., the doily ticket 220 x 180mm., slight spotting, 1849. Only two examples traced, in the British Library and the Science Museum. The ceremony was conducted on 30th October, 1849, on behalf of Queen Victoria by HRH Prince Albert, the Prince Consort, accompanied by their children, the Prince of Wales and the Princess Royal.
