first edition, first or second issue, signed presentation inscription from the author to Guy Hickok "who so generously opened his arms to me when I arrived like a beggar in Paris" to endpaper, ownership inscription of Wambly Bald to endpaper along with 2 addresses, front free endpaper detached, contemporary brown morocco, lacking spine, upper cover detached, lower cover becoming loose, 8vo, Paris, Obelisk Press, 1934. Guy Hickok, journalist, friend and companion of a number of Paris writers, most famously Ernest Hemingway with whom he embarked on a trip through northern Italy. Wambly Bald, another Paris-based writer, made most famous by his series of articles about the lives and habits of the various Left Bank writers and artists that inhabited Paris at the time. A lovely association copy with an interesting provenance.
