Description
first edition , rather browned, a few small stains, trimmed with loss to a few head-lines, perforated and ink stamp to title, a few leaves at end with lower corner cut away, modern calf, [Thacher p.109; W pp.59-60; Wing C3788], 12mo, for Tho. Basset, 1681. Rare, especially with the 4 leaves of Appendix and Errata at end, the former including a list of nineteen dressings for flies. The text is thoroughly practical and the author acknowledges others such as Markham, Walton, Venables, Cotton, etc. G.E.M. Skues, notoriously difficult to please, wrote of this book "…a really brilliant piece of work…a sheer delight to read, from the preface on, not only for it's caustic irony, but for the invaluable common sense which it displays".
