Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Chupicuaro Culture, ca. 300-100 BCE. This grouping represents a classic design created by the ancient Chupicuaro culture. Two of the vessels sit on pointed openwork feet that serve or once served as musical rattles. The first is a blackware piece; the second characteristic of Chupicuaro bichrome redware replete with complex geometric decorative program. Both pieces shows a gorgeous, lustrous surface. The third piece shows a more natural finish highlighted with beautiful smoke clouds. largest is 9 1/4"D x 2 3/4"H
