In autumn 1805 an American sailing vessel Juno, a three master, built in Brickstone in 1801 called Novo-Archangelsk John D’Wolf, the shipowner, sold her to Nicolay Rezanov., the active councilor of State for 68 000 Spanish piasters. The ship had 10 cannons and 6 falconets, her length was about 90 ft, beam – about 25 ft, displacement about 250 tons. The bow was decorated with a figure of goddess Juno with mitre on her head and laurel wreath in her raised hands.
During 6 years Juno took part of the flagship of the Russian navy in the Pacific Ocean. The ship was used for delivery of cargoes to the colony, as diplomatic vessel and the mail boat. Together with the cutter Avos she successfully liberated Kuril islands from the Japanese
Later on the fate of the sailing vessel, her owner the commanders was rather tragic, Rezanov died in Krasnoyarsk on his way to St. Petersburg. Khvostov and Davydov drowned in Neva,. In summer, 1811 the brig under command of navigator Martynov went to Kamchatka.
40 versts from Petropavlovsk harbor the ship was cast ashore. Juno was broken, only 3 crewmembers survived. Martynov died even before the ship was cast ashore.
