1865-Dated Civil War Era, Large Foldout Printed Map, with a History of the Civil War Including an Entry about Abraham Lincoln’s Death, Very Fine.
An original, First Edition, Civil War Folding Map titled, “Philip & Watson's Historical and Military Map of the Border & Southern States”, measuring to 26 x 36" (New York: Gaylord & Watson). Handcolored Lithograph with red dotes marking major military battle engagements of the war. Separated folds repaired with archival tape, explanatory text foxed with some pages partially separated. Bound in illustrated red-wraps, measures 4.5” x 6.75” with a 36 page Booklet being a "Brief Description of Battles and Skirmishes of the War." The text chronicling the Civil War conflict from the first firing on Fort Sumter through to the Grand National Review in Washington in May of 1865, complete with a piece on President Abraham Lincoln's death. Rare and desirable.
