1871 U.S. Grant and Henry Wilson, Second Presidential Campaign, “Jugate” Carte de Visite, About Fine.
Jugate Image Carte de Visite, produced for Grant’s Second Presidential Campaign measures 2.5” x 4”. The image shows US Grant in his military uniform, along side his running mate, Henry Wilson. The legends text reads, “For President, U. S. Grant. For Vice President, Henry Wilson.” Bottom of the card reads, “Despite the annual large reductions of the rates of taxation, the public debt has been reduced during General Grant’s Presidency, at the rate of one hundred million dollars a year.” Handwritten notation reads, “Reduced $800.000.000”. Reverse has written notation “Edgar Borland March 25 1871”. Minor wear on the mount and some scuffing/aging on the albumen photo. Truly a Very Scarce “Jugate” Presidential Campaign Carte de Visite.
