This rectangular cuerda seca tile shows a pale red body and a polychrome glaze. According to the current owner it comes from a Madrasa in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The blue background is adorned with light gray lines, which form cartouches that border abstract floral ornaments. Tiles of this type were used as external cladding of buildings.
The tile has minor flaws in the glaze and is chipped at the edges. One corner is broken off. The dimensions are 33 x 12.5 cm.
