John Topelko(1925-), Canadian, Oil Painting on board, signed by artist and dated 1957.Topelko’s landscapes of Georgian Bay, Lake Superior and the Gatineau Hills are well known across Canada. His portraits and bronze reliefs of Group of Seven artists A.Y. Jackson and Lauren Harris are featured by galleries and museums. A.Y. Jackson commissioned Topelko to paint his own portrait.John Topelko, a long-time resident of Ottawa, was formerly art director at Canterbury High School. He received a Canada Council Grant in 1974 and 1976.From 1986, John's works paintings have been featured in many solo exhibits in Ontario. His paintings can be found in collections in Ottawa Parliament buildings, across Canada, England, the United States, Japan, Singapore, China, and the Ukraine.
