Connecticut artist Cornelia Cowles Vetter is a well listed artist and particularly loved in Connecticut. She was a prolific artist for her whole life, a champion of women artists and a founding member of many organizations that benefited artists during her own lifetime. She traveled abroad, studying art with many renowned teachers. The painting at auction is oil on board and is annotated verso with the place and time Toledo Spain, 1910 and with her then maiden name, Cornelia Cowles. The painting measures approximately 10 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches and is framed by about 2".

Painting is dry not too dirty. Thinly painted throughout the sky, but no loss of paint or craquelure evident. Frame is fair only with loss of gesso and gilding.
