E. Howard Co. Boston oak clock coffee table, wood face metal hands, no internals, nice clock case, 18 in. (T) x 60 in. (L) x 31 in. (W) PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE NO WORKS IN THIS CLOCK, IT IS A CASE THAT WAS USED FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES. GREAT CASE.....NO WORKS!One of the large rare casesThis clock once owned by John M. Benson, who once played for the Boston Braves. The hands of this clock are set to the time of John’s marriage to Julia Isabelle Thomas at shortly before eleven o’clock. Julia was also, an Olympic hopeful for her diving and long distance swimming. John was a catcher who had the distinction of shaking hands with Lou Gehrig; he knew Babe Ruth, Dizzy Dean as well as many other players. He was forced to leave the Braves after a short time due to a shoulder injury. His nick name was Golden Boy Benson.
