Folding panoramic collotype postcard from photograph. 7.5x55 cm. (3x21½").
Scarce folding postcard panorama of the lumber company at Fort Bragg Mendocino County, California. On the back it is addressed to the Postmistress at Irmulco, Cal., with a short note to her from a Ben Stars, with stamp and both Fort Bragg and Irmulco postmarks, dated Dec. 27, 1912. The Union Lumber Company was incorporated in 1891 by C.R. Johnson, who was known the "father" of Fort Bragg.The company grew to the giant Union Lumber Co. whose railroad morphed into the California Western Railroad (“Skunk Train”).The Union Lumber Company remained in the control of the Johnson family until it was merged with the Boise Cascade Corporation in January 1969.
