Semi-antique Mehraban runner, Hamadan province, W. Persia (Iran), Ca 1930 The rose ground is commonly found throughout Hamadan and also in the more formal Sarouk carpets further south. The colour is derived from madder which can produce a wide range of rose and red shades. Single wefted structure with a high pile knotted symmetrically (Ghiordes knot). 287 x 97 cms, 9'5" x 3'2"
