Very rare letter from the correspondence of two early modern scientists

This letter comes from the correspondence of two early modern natural scientists, the physicist Giovanni Alfonso Borelli and the doctor of medicine Marcello Malpighi. In this letter Borelli said that he was happy to hear that his colleague has recovered from a recent illness. He encouraged Malpighi to continue his studies about the human brain as soon as he has convalesced totally. In this context Borelli mentioned the recently published book by the English anatomist Thomas Willis which he personally does not agree with because it only deals with the soul, imagination and mind. The autographed letter was written by an unknown hand and has the signature ‘Devotisso Sere Gio. Alf. Borelli’. It is a very interesting piece of history of science and quite rare.

Qui noi non abbiamo cominciato à far niuna osservazione p[er] gli impedimenti de circoli, che V.S. sà quanto occupano i primi giorni dello studio, pure io p[er] i miei bisogni, e p[er] i loro sollecitarò questi amici à trauagliare.
