Tsar Nicholas I writes in this letter to the French Marshal Marmont, who had fled France after the July Revolution and wanted to settle down in Russia.
In 1826 Marmont had conveyed the congratulations of King Charles X. to Nicholas' accession to the throne. In the July Revolution, he had commanded the first military division to defend the capital against the rebels.
The letter is in very fine condition. It shows a small marginal tear. The sheet size is 25,1 x 20,7 cm.
