In this telegram Kaiser Franz Josef I. writes to his mother, Archduchess Sophie.



‘Der König von Preu?en ist in das Stadium einer entschiedenen, wenn auch voraussichtlich langsamen Wiedergenesung eingetreten. Keine officiellen Bulletins mehr ausgegeben.‘



Meant here is very likely the brother of the Archduchess Sophie, King Frederick William IV (1795-1861), who had suffered several strokes in 1857 and after his preliminary recovery in 1858, died three years later.



The document is in fine to very fine condition. There is somewhat dusty with a smaller tear in the fold. Sheet size: 21,6 x 13,7 cm.



Franz Joseph I. (1830-1916)

Franz Joseph I was born in 1830 at Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna. He comes from the House of Habsburg-Lorraine was from the abdication of his uncle Ferdinand I and the renunciation of his father Franz Karl on 2 December 1848 until his death in 1916 Emperor of Austria, King of Bohemia and Apostolic King of Hungary. With nearly 68 years in power he surpassed every other ruling Hapsburg or Habsburg-Lorraine.
