Harry S. Truman (1884-1972)
Harry S. Truman was born 1884 in Lamar, Missouri. He began his career as a United States Senator of the Democratic Party. Truman represented the state of Missouri in the U.S. Senate and was elected in 1944 as Vice President of the United States. As such, he officiated only from January to April 1945, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt died in office. Then Truman moved up to the presidency, which initially ended Roosevelt's term of office before he was re-elected in 1948 as president. From 1945 to 1953 Truman was the 33rd President of the United States of America.
