Description
A Gnathian-ware trefoil oinochoe, Magnia Graecia, c. 350 - 320 BC, the neck and shoulder decorated with banding, a vine and tendril device below. Also known as a 'lip jug', this type of vessel was often used for serving wine or water and was refilled by dipping it into a larger krater or similar basin. H: 4 2/3 in (11.8cm). Intact, light deposits. Ex Property from the Estate of Dr. Ivan Jeanne Weiler, Urbana, Illinois.
