Description
A rare Chavin ceremonial vessel from Peru, c. 800 – 200 BC. This Cupisnique style florero is 8 in in diameter, and is decorated with a crisply incised geometric and linear design characteristic of the type. The primary motif is highlighted with red pigment and the burnished slip shows good mineral deposits. In exceptional condition, with intact loop handle. Ex Gallatin collection.
