A fine Moche IV molded combat scene from Peru, c. 450 – 550 AD. The bottle is 9-1/4 in high and features two depictions of a mythical scene depicting the Supernatural warriors Lizard Demon and Wrinkle Face engaged in ritual combat. Both are ornately attired and are wearing complex headdresses. The Lizard Demon is holding a severed human head in one hand and blade in the other, while Wrinkle Face is grasping his opponent’s headdress, preparing to strike him with the weapon held in his other hand. Intact, strong mineral deposits, some paint enhancement. Ex Irons collection.
