Description
A Bambara (Bamana) Kore Society Mask from Mali, of a Hyena with knots of red cord as accents. The Kore society is one that protects youths in the group until they are old enough for circumcision so that they may then join the adult societies. L: 15 in (38 cm). Ex Patty’s African Shop, West Hollywood, Ca. (1960’s).
