VICTORIA: (1819-1901) Queen of the United Kingdom Great Britain & Ireland 1837-1901. Autograph Order Signed, with her initials VRI, two pages, 8vo, Balmoral Castle, 7th September 1897, on the Queen's black monogrammed mourning stationery. The Queen states, in part, 'I desire thus…..for me, by my order of eggs, sugar & green tea is to be sent occasionally over….to the Munshi Abdul Karim when we are here. This is my order.' With blank integral leaf. VG
Hafiz Mohammed Abdul Karim (1863-1909) Indian Muslim Attendant to Queen Victoria. Known as 'The Munshi', he served the Queen during the last fifteen years of her reign, gaining her maternal affection over that time.
