Makie Lacquer Box and Cover, Japan, 18th/19th century, battledore-shape, decorated with a hiramakie landscape featuring a garden in gold, silver, and shakudo and an inlaid bird, on a nashiji ground, the sides covered with gold freckles on black lacquer, with an inscribed wood box, ht. 9 7/8 in.
