Description
A José Ferrer Group of Items from the Broadway Play "Cyrano de Bergerac," 1946. Used by the actor when he played the title character including: 1) a walking stick made of bamboo that opens to reveal a sword; 2) a black velvet hat with an elaborate gray plume, label reads "Brooks Costume Company / 3 West 61 St., New York;"  3) a cotton head bandage with faux blood used in the final scene where it's hidden beneath the plumed hat "Cyrano" wears so that "Roxane" can't see that he's been injured; and 4) a small brown leather box embossed on the lid "Jose Ferrer" in which the prop head bandage was kept; Ferrer won an 'Actors (Dramatic)' Tony Award for this role on stage in addition to a 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' Academy Award and a 'Best Motion Picture Actor - Drama' Golden Globe Award when he made the film version released by United Artists in 1950.
