Ivory Chess Set, China, late 19th/early 20th century, a complete set, all pieces intricately carved with elaborate dress and armarment, the "white" king robed as a Chinese emperor, the "black" king in foreign dress with non-Chinese facial features, some of his "black" pawns with Western firearms, tallest figure (king) 4 1/4, shortest pawn 1 1/4 in.
Condition
Condition: Bodies of figures in good condition, losses to pawns' swords, one flag missing from one "black" rook, "white" king's hat with chip to brim and its top knot possibly missing.
