Portrait of a High-Ranking Courtier, China, Qing Dynasty, possibly Kangxi Period, the official depicted seated on a tiger-skin covered throne and in winter dress, wearing a fur-lined formal court robe embellished with a large central dragon amidst the clouds, smaller dragons at his horseshoe-shaped sleeves and at the bottom of the robe, his hat topped with a red finial indicating his high rank, a blue chaodai at his waist also denoting rank, holding a chaozhu court necklace in one hand, framed and glazed, 84 x 45 3/4 in.
