Description
An Orson Welles Set of Address Books, Circa 1970s-1980s. Both by 'Eaton's At-A-Glance,' a large one and a small one, both with black leather covers and alphabet tabs, filled with entries handwritten in black, brown, green, red, or turquoise felt-tip ink or in blue or black ballpoint ink, many penned in Welles' own hand (though other handwriting appears as well), listing countless professional and personal contacts the actor had including (in alphabetical order): Frank Acuna (his tailor), John Cassavetes, Dick Cavett, Charo, Francis Ford Coppola, Joseph Cotten, Dom DeLuise, Angie Dickinson, Marlene Dietrich, Merv Griffith, Jim Henson, "Chuck" Heston, John Houston, Henry Jaglon [sic], Bill & Milt Larsen, Marlon (under 'B' so probably Brando), Sue Mengers, Jack Nicholson, Polanski (no first name), Vincent Price, Burt Reynolds, Cybill Shepherd, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, Ray Stark, Susan Strasberg, Marlo Thomas, Kenneth Tynan, and "Bob" & Natalie Wagner, among many others; also noted are businesses Welles patronized such as the Magic Castle, Ma Maison, and the Plaza Hotel to name a few -- overall, a fascinating look at the man's life during this time frame; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions.
