Description
An Orson Welles Large Collection of Receipts, 1950s. Approximately 70, from various stores and businesses mostly in the Los Angeles area and mostly from 1956 (though other years are present) when Welles was making his now-classic noir, "A Touch of Evil," all illustrate what the actor was spending his money on during this time frame -- from the mundane (exterminators, TV repair, etc.) to the exotic (Bush Babies from Harrods in London!); many receipts included are those of "Mrs. Orson Welles" [Paola Mori] -- overall, a fun look at old Los Angeles stores, most of which are gone, and at what a person like Welles purchasing; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions.
