Description
John Lennon: Charcoal Drawing by Legendary Artist Stanley Mouse, Original Art. A wonderful facial drawing of Lennon, charcoal on paper, 19" x 25" (sight size) triple matted and framed to an overall 27" x 33". Mouse has signed at lower right: "© 1987 S. M o u s e" followed by his tiny mouse drawing. A backward "Running Mouse Serigraphy" stamp is embossed at lower left. This dramatic portrait of Lennon was inspired by an early 1969 video interview of Lennon and Yoko One done by Tony Secunda for Let It Be. Mouse created several different limited edition prints from this drawing in various color palettes. They are readily available for a few hundred dollars each. Only one person can own Mouse's original charcoal on paper art, though. That privilege goes to the highest bidder on this auction lot. This image appears in Mouse's art book Freehand, The Art of Stanley Mouse on page 99. Museum or gallery-worthy. Frame has some light wear, drawing is excellent. COA from Heritage Auctions.
