Description
This marvelous lithograph was hand-colored by Wakeman Holberton from specimen samples furnished by Conroy & Bissett, which dates this at 1881-1883. Along with the over five dozen trout flies is a leaping brook trout in the center of the image. Mr. Holberton was a multi-talented sporting figure. He authored two angling books, a gifted artist and proprietor of the sporting good store, Sportsmen's Emporium in New York City around this same time period. Old labels on the back, which are probably original to this piece with a listing of the fly names, artist and where the specimens were from.
