Description
Charles Shipley was a saddle and spur maker in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in 1864 and died in 1943. Shipley’s sons continued the saddle shop until 1970. This saddle was created circa 1910-1920. The saddle shows ahand tooled design with some dry areas, but overall a great piece with a 14" seat. This does not come with stirrups. This is from the Dale E. Moore Collection inBelgrade, Montana. Dale started and runs the Montana Horseman Saddle Building School. This piece is from his over 50 year collection of rare saddles. He started building saddles in Helena Montana in 1964 under the guidanceand direction of Jack Miller. Jack was a master saddle maker who, during his career, worked for the most famous saddle shops in the west. These included: Visalia Saddlery California,Garcia Saddlery Elko Nevada and Hamleys of Pendleton Oregon. Jack Miller died in 1974.
