Description
Mid-Showa Period, circa 1950's. This legendary and impressive character doll is a Japanese adoption from an 8th century Chinese legend of a giant of a man by the name of Zhong Kui whose eternal mission it was to rid the kingdom of evil demons. This is a 'Boy's Day' doll, many times given as a gift to a family with a newborn son. Shoki has real hair and carries a sword. Approximately 9 ½ in. high.
