Elegant teapot by the prestigious New York company for ten cups of tea
The sterling silver teapot by Tiffany & Co. was made around 1900. The bulbous, stepped body rests on a high base raised on fine paw feet. The top is crowned by a florally decorated finial with a knob worked in relief. The lacking pattern number indicates that the present pot is probably not a model from a regular Tiffany design line, but a historicizing piece, which was made as a recreation of an older piece.
The pot is hallmarked with ‘Tiffany & Co.’, order number ‘756’, ‘Sterling-Silver’, standard ‘925/1000’, ‘T’, ‘4 Pints / 10 Cups’ on the underside.
The pot is in very good condition with hardly any signs of wear. It measures 27.5 cm in height. The weight is approx. 1,347 grams.
Tiffany & Co. (est. 1837)
Tiffany & Co. was founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in New York. In 1845, Tiffany published the first ever mail-order catalogue of the US. Due to its headquarters being located on Fifth Avenue since its opening in 1910, Tiffany’s soon became widely famous. It was even appointed the purveyor to the Austro-Hungarian court in Vienna. Last but not least, the motion picture ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ introduced an even larger audience to the company. Since the very first day, Tiffany & Co. has always been up to date with the latest fashion.
