Description
An early 20th century 18ct gold opal and diamond ring. The graduated oval opal cabochons, with old-cut diamond double spacers, to the plain band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.20ct. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1912. Weight 3.2gms.
Condition
Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear. Diamonds individual size and setting prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. The diamonds are bright, lively and well matched. Light nicks and chips can be seen to some. Fine feathers and fractures can be seen under magnification. The opals are a white body colour with strong blue and green play of colour, slight red play of colour. Abrasion to the surface of the opals. One opal is significantly chipped and split in half.
