LOUIS XV STYLE BRONZE, VERNIS MARTIN & KINGWOOD FALL-FRONT LADIES' SECRETAIRE, PAUL SORMANI, circa 1890, the lock plate signed –Paul Sormani, 10 Charlot, Paris”, the rectangular upper section with a
three-quarter pierced bronze gallery at the top, above a fall-front set with a Vernis Martin panel of an amorous couple, opening to a satinwood veneered interior with shelf and two small drawers, the shaped apron centering a painted panel depicting a winged cupid conversing with a dove, flanked by two drawers, raised on elongated cabriole legs, fitted with espagnolettes, acanthus cast chutes and foliate sabots. Height 50 in., Width 24 in., 13 in.

Recent 'French' re-polishing, and cleaning, cosmetic repairs to veneer losses, all original. There has been minor veneer replacements to areas throughout. No structural damage or repairs evident. Good quality bronze casting and good gilt finish, Red velvet interior possibly original.
