A fine Meissen model of a Bolognese hound dog after a model by J.J. Kaendler, long-haired with a coat of blue white accented with mushroom, golden brown, taupe and nutmeg accents overall, the face naturalistically modeled with tufts above the expressive eyes. These dogs were favored as lap dogs in 18th century Germany. Crossed swords mark in blue, impressed, "46". Provenance: The Estate of Mrs. W. A. Criswell, Dallas, Texas. 9"H, Circa - last half 19th C.
