A fine Meissen Schneeball Snowball chocolate pot the exterior encrusted with small white flower heads each with central yellow stamen and painted with radial lines in magenta to depict petals of which is applied with gold gilt rose flowers and foliage where two canary yellow songbirds perch, the top band of flowers highlighted with Prussian blue radial stripes, the interior painted and gilt to depict an 18th C. harbor scene set within a central quatrefoil cartouche, the lid likewise decorated with gold leaves and a twisted branch serving as the handle upon which a yellow songbird perches, the underside painted with a classical scene with ruined columns within a central quatrefoil cartouche. Crossed swords mark in blue under glaze. Provenance: The Estate of Mrs. W. A. Criswell, Dallas, Texas. 3.75"H, Circa - Mid 19th C.
