Description
This is an original dry point etching by Edward Borein titled End of Day. Edward Borein was a master at portraying the Native Americans. This piece was done directly from Edward Borein's first original copper plate. The piece is not signed, but has been authenticated as an original Borein done after his death. The well struck etching is shown in John Galvin's book- The Etchings of Edward Borein- 1971 (Library # 76-174-984) plate D14. The etching is very rare and scarce. Borein was friends with both Theodore Roosevelt and Charles Russell. The art area is 5"x8" and the frame is 12.25"x15.25" Edward Borein, along with Charlie Russell, is the most authentic of all the early cowboy artists by virtue of his familiarity with the lifestyle, sites and sounds of the west. "I will leave only an accurate picture of the West, nothing else but that. If anything isn't authentic or just right, I won't put it in any of my work."
