Description
A large necklace composed of Near Eastern banded-agate beads, c. 1st Millennium BC, mostly of the tubular type with tapered ends many with an ‘eye’ pattern on the side. The banded agate beads are interspersed with carnelian beads, several of the Byzantine type with inlaid white paste, lapis beads round out the necklace near the clasp. L: 27 in (68.8 cm). A beautiful necklace, nicely strung on modern cord and clasp. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
