A rare and intact Neolithic flint dagger mounted in a well patinated bone handle, c. 5000 BC, likely from Neolithic Belgium. The bone handle is perfectly proportioned, exemplifying the finest craftsmanship of the Neolithic era. The blade sharpened on both sides, as well as the point. The bone handle positioned in such a way as to form a guard at the top, with the knuckle at the base forming a stop and hitting butt. L: 8 in (20.5cm). A choice example with antique collection note: 'Spiennes', which is an area in Belgium with Neolithic flint mines, written on blade. Ex West Sussex, England Private Collection, acquired over half a century through auctions, dealers and antiques fairs.
