Côte d’Or is the soul of Burgundy wine-growing culture. This rural stretch of land has produced some of the finest wines on the planet for a good two centuries. Vines thrive on the “golden hillside” between the Morvan hills and the Saône plain. The 28 districts of the Côte d’Or are geographically divided into two regions. The northern part is Côte de Nuits, named after the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, and produces great red wines from Pinot noir. Côte de Beaune is the southern half, where valuable Chardonnay white wines on a par with Pinot noir are produced.
24 Premiere Cru vineyards and both Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes-Mares and Musigny, belong to the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. It is known for its Pinot noirs that can exhibit acidity/bubbles whilst still young that develops into weightless elegance and finesse.
1996 was a very good vintage for red wines in Burgundy with a large harvest. The wines are elegant and long-lasting with good acidity and deep color. 1999 was also a good vintage, the wines have rich tannins and are great to drink today.
The fill levels are excellent (2x < 3 cm, 7x < 2 cm). Some labels are vey slightly damaged. The capsules are in perfect condition.
