[Albumen Photograph/Sommer/Pompeii]. 2 Albumen photographs by Georgio Sommer (1834-1914) of body casts of human remains made by filling voids in the ash from the Mt. Vesuvius volcanic eruption of AD79. Images [ca. 1875-1880]; approx. 9" x 5", 1 mounted on cardboard, both with pencil notations on reverse. 1" light scratch to lower center edge of mounted image, small nick and corner fold to left edge of unmounted image, photos otherwise in good condition.
