Scholarly highly regarded text examines the impact of the ""Egyptian Phase"" (1382-1406) on the great historian, Ibn Khaldun's writings and interest towards Eastern Islam and non-Islamic peoples. First part of the text covers Khaldun's life in Mamluk Egypt and his roles as educator , Chief Cadi, and public servant; including details of the six topics he and Tamerlane discussed during their confroontation outside Damascus. Second part of the text investigates the Egyptian influence on the products of Ibn Khaldun's historical research which included a biography of the Sultan Barquq, a historical survey of the Mongol and Tatar tribes, biographies of Jenghiz Khan, his descendants, and Tamerlane.
