AN ITALIAN 19TH CENTURY GILTWOOD OPEN ARMCHAIR. High Venetian Rococo Style. Carved giltwood frame bears eagle form arm supports, with foliate decoration throughout H: 47" W: 28" D: 28"
Condition
1052 - This piece has a medium - significant amount of wear and loss to the gilt and carved wood surface. The gilt on the arm rests is basically all gone exposing the wood below, and there are many areas of exposed gesso and wood throughout. There are light negligible surface scratches scattering the surface from age appropriate wear. The seams are visible and slightly separating where the wood is joined. There is some additional cracks in the wood on the top corners of the back rest (around the seams where the wood surround curves on the back rest). The upholstery has light fading and a few 1" diameter oil stains to the seat. The seats have been re-stuffed, and are firm almost hard, there are new tacks around the upholstery. There are also some approximately 3" metal cones that seem to be added to the feet. It is overall sturdy and stable.
