Description
Pre-Columbian, Honduras/El Salvador, Mayan culture, ca. 550-900 CE Wonderfully painted polychrome bowl in red, black and cream. The interior features registers painted with various geometric motifs, some linear in nature, others curvilinear. The central circle contains a net-like pattern. We see the same net-like motif divided into quadrants and outlined in red on the underside of the bowl. Surrounding the perimeter is a vertical, striated pattern. A really fine example! 7-1/4"D x 3"H
