Encased Postage Stamps
Scarce 5¢ “Gage Brothers & Drake - Tremont House” EPS

EP-77, HB-122, S-90, 5¢, GAGE BROTHERS & DRAKE, Tremont House, Very Fine.
Rated a Rarity-5 (21 to 30 known), according to Fred Reed. This piece has one long natural lamination craze from just above the left obverse moon to Jefferson’s chin. The stamp is very well centered and remains a rich brown in color. The mica is otherwise unbroken and clear. The case is chestnut-brown in color with a reddish-brown appearance, the legends are clear. A scarce merchant type. (2006 Scott cat. VF $750.)
