Description
Original Gouache on artist's board of the Santa Fe Super Stream Liner. The painting was created for the 1952 Lionel Catalog. PLEASE NOTE: This art was also used as the cover image for the 1953 Canadian Advance Catalog. Artwork is actually two separate paintings with the top showing the train in the desert and the bottom showing the train in profile on blue background. PROVENANCE: The painting came from the California estate of a retired Lionel executive, Harry Blum. Harry a marketing executive at the NJ offices in the 60's and 70's. His father, Leonard Blum, was a very well know Lionel distributor and owner of Blums Hobby House in Cleveland. It is possible, even likely that the art was originally given to Leonard on one of his visits to the NJ offices and Harry inherited it from him. Less likely, but still possible Harry was given the piece himself. Mounted in original frame and mat. Painting itself is mint. Mat has some water staining and surface mold to upper right corner which does not affect art. Sight 29 1/2" x 9 1/2".37 3/4" x 18 1/4"
