Collector's album of trips made to the Bernese Alps and the upper Rhineland. 1880s/1890s. 68 albumen prints and 4 collotypes. Each circa 14 x 22,5 cm, 15,5 x 10 cm and 10 x 15 cm. 1 with monogram blind stamp K. L. H., flush-mounted to album pages (buckled, some with moisture spots, 1 loose), dated and annotated in ink below the images, in ornamental canvas album (in excellent condition) with silver-stamped title Sammel-Album on the cover in original canvas box (slight traces of use).
The album contains images of Switzerland (Mürren, Lauterbrunnen, the Bernese Alps) and German cities in the Rhineland (Königswinter, Godesburg, Murnau) as well as scenery, castles and ruins along the Rhine river. Dried flora from the areasdecoratively frame the photographs and are also pressed on separate pages with detailed descriptions in ink below the flora. The album was collected by Dr. Wilhelm Wagner (his name in ink on the first page) who became the director of the Zanderanstalt near Aachen in 1895 where chronic lung and heart diseases were treated. - Some images faded, slight traces of use, otherwise in good condition, the dried flora in exceptionally good condition.
