We are very pleased to present this great set of 1950s vintage retro pottery items beginning with a well known Mar-Crest (by Western Stoneware) 8.25 x 6 x 8 inch tall pitcher, in the beautiful Rockingham brown glaze and finished in the collectible Daisy & Dot pattern. We also have a stunning 1950s set of German Staffel / Limburg pottery three banded pitchers and barrel mugs, finished in a lovely Albany banded & yellow ground, over a special rustic bark mold pattern. All are in excellent condition except the smaller Staffel pitcher which has a spout chip and crazing. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Mar-crest was made by Western Stoneware Co. of Monmouth, Illinois for Marshall Burns, Division of Technicolor, a distributer from Chicago, with the Marshall Burns Trademark, Mar-Crest. This was used as promotions by service stations and movie theaters, primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. Mar-crest Old Fashioned Stoneware that was produced from the 50's to the early 60's featured a special layered pattern featuring waves, then a band of flowers and indentations, resulting in the pattern Collectors refer to as the Daisy and Dot. Many call the glaze finish a traditional English Rockingham, and others, a Warm Colorado Brown and the style (form) as Pennsylvania Dutch. Besides the daisy dot pattern, there are rare pastel pieces that are much sought after by serious collectors.
